Dividing by a fraction asks how many of those fit into this. How many quarters fit into three quarters? Three. That question is worth asking out loud before any rule appears, because it explains why dividing by a fraction smaller than one makes the answer bigger, which otherwise feels wrong. The method is keep, change, flip: keep the first, change the divide to a multiply, flip the second.
What is on the sheet
Unit fractions first, where the answers are whole numbers and the how many idea is visible. Then general quotients, then ones that simplify. Then dividing by a whole number, which needs the whole number written as a fraction over one before the flip makes sense. A mixed number stretch and two word problems finish it.
Marking it
The dividing fractions lesson spends its first minute on the how many question, which is what makes the flip feel reasonable rather than arbitrary.
