Multiplying and dividing decimals is easier if you take the point out of the problem and put it back afterwards. Ignore the point, do the calculation with whole numbers, then count the decimal places to work out where the point belongs. 0.4 times 0.3 is 4 times 3 with two decimal places, so 0.12.
What is on the sheet
Multiplying two decimals together first, including a decimal times a whole number, so counting the places is the only thing being tested. Then dividing, where the divisor is itself a decimal and making it whole first turns the question into one already practised. A short stretch follows, then a pen price and a length of ribbon cut into pieces. The numbers stay small deliberately, because this topic is about the position of the point rather than about hard arithmetic.
