Rounding to a decimal place is about which number you are nearest to. To one decimal place, 3.47 sits between 3.4 and 3.5, and it is closer to 3.5. The digit you look at is the one immediately after the place you are rounding to, and nothing beyond it changes the decision.
What is on the sheet
One decimal place first, then two, then a mixed set where the question states the place each time. The numbers include the awkward cases on purpose: a 5 in the deciding position, a 9 that carries when it rounds up, and numbers where a zero has to be kept in the answer to show the place. Worded questions close it, rounding the length of a plank, a number left on a calculator display and a sprint time, where rounding has a consequence.
Marking it
The rounding decimals lesson uses a number line for each example, so nearest is something you see rather than a rule about five.
