Equivalent Fractions — Free KS3 Worksheet
A free KS3 practice worksheet on equivalent fractions: fill in the missing number by multiplying the top and bottom by the same value. 16 questions graded easy to hard, including word problems, with a full answer key. Print-ready A4 PDF.
Two fractions are equivalent when they are worth the same amount despite looking different. A half and three sixths are the same quantity written two ways. You move between them by multiplying or dividing the top and the bottom by the same number, and that single move is what simplifying, comparing and adding fractions are all built on. Get this sheet right and the rest of the fractions unit gets noticeably easier.
What is on the sheet
Missing numbers in both directions: sometimes the top is blank, sometimes the bottom. That matters more than it sounds, because a pupil can get every question right while only ever looking at one row. The numbers stay friendly throughout so the attention stays on the method. It finishes with word problems where the equivalence is buried in a sentence about a chocolate bar or two identical pizzas rather than handed over as two fractions.
Marking it
The equivalent fractions lesson uses two identical pizzas cut differently, which settles the adding mistake faster than any rule does.
